For Accuracy, use Wavesight

Accurate Predictions by using WaveSight’s ray tracing algorithms are the key. Why Ray Tracing? And why is ray tracing important to you and your bottom line?

Wavecall’s WaveSight software functions as a module within all major planning tools such as Asset, Planet, Odyssey, Atoll, Wizard and Astrix, or as a stand-alone application. Wavesight uses UTD (Unified Theory of Diffraction) and in doing so has converted academic possibility into commercial application (see our WaveSight brochure).

Ray Tracing

WaveSight by Wavecall works in the most complex network environments in the world. WaveSight uses UTD (Unified Theory of Diffraction) ray tracing and 3D building databases to measure how radio signals bounce off of structures – providing the most accurate network coverage information available for both the microcell and macrocell layer.

Ray tracing provides the accuracy of UTD (which is the closest solution to Maxwell’s equations), allowing wireless network managers to see the effect of signals as they bounce off of buildings. The resulting “canyon effect” seen in dense urban areas, for example, makes older COST Hata models obsolete for both network planning and optimization in an urban environment.

“Our old COST-Hata models were saving us a lot of money, in hardware anyway, and the predictions were quick, but compared to WaveSight’s predictions I might as well have been driving the company bus blindfolded. WaveSight gave our team vision, and we were thus able to tune several hundred sectors and avoid building sites in areas where we really had interference issues, not coverage holes.”

“Using the WaveSight propagation model has significantly improved the performance of our microcell layer. We have now used WaveSight to implement a number new frequency plans and have seen the interference level drop by around 20 to 25%”
